From storage room to extra room
Garages don’t exactly have the coziest image. They are often dark, cold, and above all filled with stuff for which there is no longer any room indoors.
However, such a space can offer far more possibilities than you might think at first glance. With a good floor, neat walls, lighting, and a smart layout, a garage can suddenly feel like a completely different room.
And that is exactly what happened here.
You absolutely do not expect the interior
Where you would normally expect a concrete floor and shelves full of tools, after the makeover there is an atmospheric space where you would actually want to spend time.
Moreover, by making smart use of the available square meters, the whole thing feels much less like a garage. It is precisely the contrast with the simple exterior that makes the transformation so special.
Anyone who sees only the outside would never guess what is hidden inside.
What can you actually do with an old garage?
That is perhaps the best part of this makeover. It shows how many possibilities a space that is normally hardly used can have.
For example, a garage could be transformed into a hobby room, home office, playroom, guest room, or extra living space. Depending on local regulations and permits, there are even people who have an outbuilding converted into independent living space.
Especially now that every square meter of living space is valuable, it is not surprising that more and more people are looking at a garage or shed differently. Check first before you start renovating
Feeling enthusiastic yourself? Converting a garage is, of course, not simply a matter of sliding in a sofa and a bed.
Consider insulation, ventilation, heating, daylight, electricity, and moisture, among other things. Furthermore, if you actually intend to use the space as a living or sleeping area, building regulations and permits may play a role.
But this makeover does prove one thing: a boring garage absolutely does not have to remain a boring garage.
From the outside, you can hardly tell the difference. But once inside, you immediately understand why this renovation is attracting so much attention.
